Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş and his spouse, Prof. Dr. Sevgi Kurtulmuş were the honourable guests at the Graduation Ceremony of the International Balkan University for the academic year 2015/2016, which was held on Friday, 3rd of June 2016.
During the day, Deputy Prime Minister Kurtulmuş attended a luncheon at the campus site of IBU, where he inspected the constructions works and got informed on the project of the new home of IBU.
Later in the evening, DPM Kurtulmuş participated at the Graduation Ceremony of IBU for Class 2016. In his address, he stated that he has followed closely the progress of International Balkan University since its first days of foundation and that he shares the satisfaction with the founders, academic staff and students for the progress that IBU has made in the past 10 years. He conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Honorable Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who, due to his official visit in Africa could not participate at the Graduation Ceremony.
“Why the Balkans, why IBU? People in the Balkan region used to live in peace for six centuries, but unfortunately ethnic, religious and sectarian strives divided people. We are back in the Balkans to rediscover its historic and cultural heritage, to integrate with its people and walk together towards a better future. In this mission, International Balkan University is a scientific center that symbolizes the unity of the peoples of the Balkans.” said Kurtulmuş during his speech.
The President of the IBU Executive Board, Mr. Hüseyin Bürge and the Rector of IBU, Prof. Dr. İsmail Kocayusufoğlu presented their gifts to Deputy Prime Minister Kurtulmuş, artworks of students at the Faculty of Art and Design.
