The International Balkan University held the Graduation Ceremony for the academic year 2013/2014 on Friday (20th June 2014) in the Army House Hall in Skopje. On this occassion, the fourth generation of 75 graduates in undergraduate studies was promoted. On the other hand, for the first time in the history of IBU, 18 students of postgraduate studies were also promoted.
The Ceremony was honoured with the presence of the Minister of Health in the Government of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu, Minister without portfolio in the Government of Macedonia, Mr. Furkan Çako, Ambassador of Turkey in Skopje, H.E. Gürol Sökmensüer, Rector of Dumplupınar University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karaaslan, members of Parliament of Turkey, Mr. Hüseyin Bürge (President of the University Executive Board) and Gülay Dalyan, Mayor of Novi Pazar, Dr. Meho Mahmutovic, Mayor of Istanbul Eyup Municipality, Mr. Remzi Aydın, as well as other representatives of the busienss and civil sector in Macedonia and Turkey.
In his welcoming speech in front of the guests, the Rector of IBU, Prof. Dr. Şinasi Gündüz said that the vision of the founders of IBU is seeing its light and this is confirmed with the numerous achievements of IBU in the direction of the growth of number of students from all Balkan countries and Turkey, extending the educational offer with 18 new undergraduate and 6 postgraduate study programmes, frequent and close international cooperation with higher-education institutions on one hand, and investment in the future of the university by constructing a modern campus in Skopje on the other.
The President of the Executive Board, Mr. Hüseyin Bürge noted that as each year goes by, he becomes prouder with the success of our students who cultivate the multiculturalism at IBU in a peaceful, harmonous and cohabitant manner. He reminded the words of the Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who, referring to IBU, had once declared that this university will rise as a symbol of the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation that Turkey is spreading between the different nations and cultures in the Balkans.
The Minister of Health of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu emphasized the role that IBU graduates will have to take on their shoulders in the future, being leaders and contributours to the peaceful climate in the Balkans. He underlined that IBU today is a highly-qualitative university which produces proffessional and competitive workforce towards the socio-economic challenges that the region is facing.
Best students of each department as well as the honorary students of the generation were awarded at the ceremony. Honorary student of the generation in first cycle of studies is Shqipe Palloshi-student of English Language and American Studies, whereas honorary student of the second cycle of studies is Sara Shaban-student of Business Administration.
