The group of second-year law students in the frame of the course Civil law had the chance to visit the Notary Public “Dzevat Buci” The notary officers explained to the students the organization of the notary as a public service and its bodies, the procedure for appointment and dismissal of notaries, legal services which are performed by the Notary Public, the authorizations of the Notary Public, supervision and disciplinary liability of the Notary Public, as well as the advantages of being a Notary Public. They also explained the necessary legal requirements they must meet in order to become a Notary Public.

Most of the legal branches of civil law were also covered by the notary officers, such as law of obligations, property law and inheritance law, merging the legislation that regulates these areas of law and the legal practice. Students were asking many questions regarding different type of contracts, for example, purchase contract and the possibility to buy immovable items in the Republic of Macedonia, lease contracts, loan contracts, hereditary law relations between the parties etc. The notary officers explained to the students in clear and simple manner, using some interesting cases as reference points, the implementation of the legal provisions regarding the aforementioned issues. Students were accompanied by their professor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nikola Dacev.

 

 

 

 

MARITIME AND INSURANCE LAW COURSE CLINICAL TEACHING AT INTERNATIONAL BALKAN UNIVERSITY’S FACULTY OF LAW

A clinical teaching within the frame of the course Maritime and Insurance Law was organized for the group of third-year law students at IBU premises. The clinical teaching lecture entitled: “Insurance from a lawyer’s perspective” was delivered by the lawyer and insurance broker Orce Ivanoski. He explained to the students the main competences of the insurance intermediaries, pointing out the differences between the insurance brokers and insurance agents, the necessary skills in selling insurance products and managing claims for damages, especially focusing on the negotiation skills, as well as the advantages of becoming an insurance broker. He also shared with the students his own personal working experience, accentuating all the obstacles he needed to overcome to become a successful lawyer and insurance broker at the same time. It was a very informative and motivational lecture for the group of third-year law students at IBU.

 

 

GUEST LECTURE BY PROF. SHALVA WEIL AT THE FACULTY OF LAW

As a part of clinical teaching activities in the frame of International Public Law course, the students of the Faculty of Law received a lecture from Prof. Shalva Weil.  Prof. Weil is Senior Researcher at the Research Institute for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and prominent human rights defender. Prof. Weil served as Chair of the Cost Action IS1206 on Femicide across Europe, heading a Management Committee of 80 people representing 30 countries. Prof. Weil lecture was focused in United Nation role in combating Femicide, including the importance of ratification of the Istanbul Convention.
