CHARACTERIZATION ANALYSIS OF CHILDREN LITERATURE IN NATIONAL LITERATURE PERIOD IN TERMS OF THE 100 BASIC WORKS

The aim of the study is to study the books of the national literature in the scope of 100 major works – Altın Işık (Ziya Gökalp), Havaya Uçan At (Peyami Safa), Her O Şarkı (Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu), Tanrı Misafiri (Reşat Nuri Güntekin), Yalnız Efe (Ömer Seyfettin) – character analysis in terms of children’s literature. As a result of the field survey, the necessary headings for the analysis were created. The data obtained from the analysis were interpreted under these headings. According to the findings obtained from the concept of character in children’s literature, it was tried to determine whether the characters in the works are in accordance with the characteristics of children’s literature.

When children’s literature is mentioned, the first thing that should come to mind or to come is the concept of child. The primary question to be asked here is what the concept of children means. When the child is mentioned, the answer appeared in the mind is the time required for the child to be in need of help from the environment and to help him / herself with his own needs. In this process, the stimuli from the environment must be at a level that can create the child’s own self. Another point to be emphasized here is to contribute to the child with books. For this, a culture of reading must be obtained and the culture should be disseminated. The importance of reading and reading should be adopted to the child. This can only be the effect of the heroes in the books on the child. It should be considered that characters can have a great impact on the child. In this respect, characters are important. It has a great influence on the personality and reading habits of the child. For this purpose, the characters must be provided in a sound structure.

It is observed that studies on children’s literature are not given enough importance. Studies should be done to raise awareness of the necessity of putting forward children’s and children’s literature in a way to be pointed at. This study has tried to contribute to the literature of children’s a little bit. the gaps should be closed. It should be ensured that the concept of children’s literature and what is happening in this concept, and of course what should not happen, should be closed with the works that can be seen. In this study, some of these gaps were tried to be closed. It has been supported by the fact that the effect of the character concept in children’s literature on children is an important element. The findings of the study provided insight into the author’s comments on individuals and the clues to which their characters should be interpreted. In this study, character analysis is examined categorically with the help of the clues presented by the author. The 100 books which are recommended to the children are included in the scope of the national literary period books -Altın Işık (Ziya Gökalp), Havaya Uçan At (Peyami Safa), Her O Şarkı ( Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu), Tanrı Misafiri (Reşat Nuri Güntekin), Yalnız Efe (Ömer Seyfettin)- it has been determined whether they are suitable for children’ characteristics or not.

A literature search was made about the concept of character in children’s literature. The study was structured with the findings obtained from the literature review. In this study, which is advanced by using categorical content analysis, the concept of character has been interpreted by giving under the headings such as open, closed, dynamic, static and showing examples. The study which evaluates character analysis in terms of children’s literature 100 major works national literary period, qualitative according to the perspective; According to data collection technique, it is a documentary research.

The work should be created by considering the principle of relativity to the child. The child’s developmental age, gender, culture, value education, heroes and many other issues should be established in the works. When creating characters in children’s literature, it is important that these characters are appropriate for the age group of children. Because it is also seen in studies conducted in the field where the child is more identified with the characters of his age. In children’s literature, character traits are examined under certain headings. These titles are: Open, closed, dynamic and static. When the concept of character is examined in children’s literature, it is seen that different character types are observed. When the concept of character is examined in children’s literature, it is seen that different character types are observed. It is concluded that especially the open characters are concentrated in the studied works. It is an important and positive situation in terms of identifying these children with the relevant characters and contributing to the personal development of the child.

Children’s personalities are shaped by the works they read. This works impress children in positive or negative ways. Perhaps the greatest of these marks is the characters in the books. These characters play an important role in shaping the character of the child. For this, children’s literature books should be strong in character. It was observed that gender concept features were not loaded into characters and that gender was expressed in stereotypes. It is concluded that this situation will have a negative impact on children by considering the possibility that the reader can identify the character in their own gender. In the works examined in the general sense, it is concluded that the authors include a character that is from open to closed character and a few dynamic characters.

Based on these results, the following suggestions can be made about the area:
1. All 100 artworks should be subjected to character analysis and the list of works should be revised according to the characters.
2. Children’s literary writers need to take into account the mental and physical development of children during the character building phase.
3. It is thought that children’s literature products should be considered problem-oriented and characters should be formed in this direction.
4. Children’s literature products should be examined in detail not only in terms of character, but in every aspect.
5. The result of academic studies on the field should be presented to the public and to the attention of both the authors and readers.
