Fikir Hareketleriwas an importantjournalthatpublishedsixteenpagesweeklyby Hüseyin Cahit Yalçın himself. He was a well-knownwriter, journalistandpolitician in theRepublicanperiod. Thisjournalwaspublished in a seven yearperiodbetween 1933-1940. The main goal of authorwastoinformTurkishyounggenerationandintellectualsabouttheculturaldevelopments in theworld.  Thejournalalsoincludedthewritings of thegreatestinternationalthinkers, intellectuals, poetsandwriters. Hüseyin Cahit, continuedwriting in the sam eline in his  “Oğlumun Kütüphanesi” in Fikir Hareketleri. Among his publicationstherewerenovels, stories, poems, theatres, travelwritings, polemicsandliteraryhistories. Thisstudyaimstoevaluate Hüseyin Cahit’sliterarycriticismexamplesandinterpretationactivitiesmade his writing popular in Fikir Hareketleri.

InFikir Hareketleri Hüseyin Cahit, assigned a specialsectioncalled “Matbuat Hayatı” in ordertoevaluatethepublications of younggenerationspoetsandwriters. In his novelandstorycriticisms put a specailemphasis on thestyle of writing. He triedtopersueyounggenerationto be personalbecause he didn’tlikeideologicalpublications. Foristance; in thenovelscalledBir Serencam, Nur Baba, Hüküm Gecesi, Sodom ve Gomore, Kiralık Konak, YabanandAnkara, he maintainedsomeargumentsaboutdaily life andTurkishnation. Actually as a Turkishintellectual Hüseyin Cahit gaveimportancetoTurkishwomen.

Hüseyin Cahit published 26 books, 4 translatednovelsand 1 essaycritic on novel. He constructivecriticsattidudewhilecriticisingtheworks of youngwriters. He also had translationsfromthefamous Western writerslikeF.Nitti, Alain, F. Delaisi, C. Turgeon, F. Strowski, C. Sforza, J. Benda, F. Cambo, M. Trumer, C. Bougle; Hocart. Hüseyin Cahit translatedwell-knownnovelscalledİzlanda Balıkçıları andMadam Krizantem by Pierre Loti.

Hüseyin Cahit’s main aimwastoexpandthehorizons of youngwritersbymakingtranslationsfromtheworldliterature. His interpretationsareetreamlyuseful in Turkish Language andLiterature.
