ABSTRACT

As a writerandpolitician, Hüseyin Cahit has gotmanydifferenttypes of book. His interest of literature is based on readingmurderstoriesand Ahmet Mithat’sliteratureandphilosophie. Besidesthat he wasinfluencedby his fatherwho had a biglibrary in his housewith a greatinterest in readingand his momwhowas a greatfollower of politicalevents. Hüseyin Cahit’sinterest of interpretingwasinfluencedfrom French and French culturewhichwasintruduced in his highschoolyears. During his schoolyears he made a fewtranslations.

Fikir Hareketleri journalincluding his ownwritingsandinterpretationspublishedby Hüseyin Cahit duringtheRebublicanyears, has a greatinfluence on ourunderstanding of philosophy of life. Thisjournalwaspublished in a 7 yearperiodbetween 1933-1940. Itwaspublished in fourteenvolumesand 364 serieswiththesamespeedandpatiency.  Fikir Hareketleriwhichwaspublishedso as toinformTurkishyounggenerationsaboutthecultureldevelopments in theworld,  includedthepublications of themostimportantinfluencialwriters of theworld.  Thekey rol of Hüseyin Cahit formedby his consistency in his “Oğlumun Kütüphanesi” attempts,  weremaintained in his Fikir Hareketleri. Amongtheliterarygenrecoveringmemoriespublished in journals, weredominatedbypracticallitrarycriticsparticularly. Hüseyin Cahit himselfgovernedthejournal in which he publisedarticlesaboutnovel, story, poetry, theatre, prose, travelliterature, publications, polemics, history of literatureandliterarycritics.  Inthisarticle,  someexamples of theliterarycriticismandtranslationshelpedthepopularity of thejournalpublishedby Hüseyin Cahit,  areevaluated.
