THE EFFECT ON THE SPEAKING ATTITUDE OF THE IMPERATIVE TECHNIQUE

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, empathy, which is a concept which is especially prominent, has been started to be examined and investigated in all areas. It is called empathy in that the quiche puts himself in the face of the other and works with his feelings and thoughts to feel and understand, and to look at events and situations with his point of view.

Communication is, in a sense, the flexibility in the perspective of an individual’s inner world. For this reason, it is extremely important that the message to be conveyed during the realization of the interpersonal communication is given correctly, as well as its meaning by the opposite side. As communication is based on interpersonal common denotations in understanding and expression, the concept of empathy as much as speech becomes important.

The attitudes towards speech are expected to be positive because individuals often benefit from the conversation during the communication process. It is possible to determine the attitude, which is a tendency affecting the emotions, thoughts and behaviors of an individual on an idea, object or subject, even if it is not visible. These behaviors can manifest in different ways such as experiencing tension, fear, excitement, locking and locking. For this reason, it would be appropriate to use the technique of empathy in order to positively change a person’s attitude towards speech. The effect of the empathy technique on speech attitude was studied in the study.

The research is designed to be experimental. The study group consists of a total of 45 participants who are studying at the Department of Turkish Education at a state university in the 2017-2018 academic year. The results of the study were collected by the Speech Skill Attitude Scale. In the research process, a 4-week lesson plan was developed and implemented taking into account the empathy technique. In the analysis of the data, dependent groups t-test was used.

A significant difference was found in favor of posttest as a result of the research. It can be argued that the empathy technique influenced the attitude of speech skill positively, but there was no meaningful change according to sex.
