Celebrating April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day: IBU Students Bring Stories to Life at Tefeyyüz Primary School in Skopje

As part of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day celebrations, students from the Department of Turkish Language Teaching at the Faculty of Education organized a meaningful literary event under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Özlem Kurt at Tefeyyüz Primary School in Skopje. The program featured an interactive book reading workshop and a creative writing activity designed to strengthen children's engagement with books and foster their imagination.

 

During the event, the children’s book “The Train That Went to Space” was read using interactive reading techniques. Students actively participated in the storytelling process by predicting events, connecting with characters, and sharing their interpretations. Following the reading session, a creative writing workshop was held, where students wrote their own stories, enriching their narratives with original characters and imaginative settings.

 

The event, aimed to enhance reading habits and develop students’ expressive skills. It also provided a valuable classroom experience for the university students, allowing them to apply teaching strategies in a real educational setting.
