International Balkan University (IBU) recently hosted a conference titled "Internationalization of Higher Education in Türkiye and Opportunities for Cooperation with the Balkans." The event featured Mr. Haşim Koç, Advisor to the President of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (YÖK), as the keynote speaker.
The conference attracted significant interest, particularly from Turkish students studying at IBU. In his address, Mr. Koç emphasized the growing importance of international academic cooperation and highlighted Türkiye’s initiatives to strengthen ties with higher education institutions across the Balkans.
Following the keynote speech, an engaging Q&A session was held, where students had the opportunity to ask questions directly. One of the key topics discussed was the YÖK diploma equivalency process. Mr. Koç addressed students’ concerns and provided clarity on procedures and future developments in this area.
- IBU Campus Tour
As part of his visit, Mr. Koç also met with IBU Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Sunar. Later, he was given a comprehensive campus tour by IBU Vice-Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Seyhan Murtezan Ibrahimi. The tour included visits to various university centers, laboratories, studios, and clinics, showcasing the university’s advanced facilities and its commitment to providing a modern and inclusive academic environment. Mr. Koç expressed his admiration for IBU’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, noting that he was fascinated by the university's modern and well-equipped facilities.
The event marked another step in IBU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional academic collaboration and to serve as a bridge between Türkiye and the Balkans in the field of higher education.
