IBU and Limak Hotel Forge Groundbreaking Partnership to Launch Balkan Art Gallery

In a landmark move for North Macedonia's cultural scene, International Balkan University's Faculty of Art and Design has joined forces with Limak Hotel to establish the innovative Balkan Art Gallery. This pioneering collaboration will transform part of the hotel's premises into a vibrant exhibition space dedicated to showcasing the work of student and emerging artists.

The newly signed agreement creates a multifaceted platform that serves several important functions. The gallery will provide crucial visibility for up-and-coming artists while creating commercial opportunities through artwork sales. Hotel guests will enjoy an enriched cultural experience, and the partnership strengthens the connection between academic training and professional practice in the arts.

Under the terms of the agreement, participating artists retain full copyright and ownership of their displayed works, with revenue generated from sales going directly to the artists. A joint selection committee comprising representatives from both institutions will evaluate submissions based on artistic quality, thematic relevance, and market potential.

The agreement was officially signed by Prof. Dr. Lutfi Sunar, Rector of International Balkan University, and Gökhan Ramazanoğlu, General Manager of Limak Hotel. Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Ristovska, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, was also present at the meeting, underscoring the significance of the collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Sunar emphasized the project's transformative potential. "This initiative represents the perfect synergy between education and industry," he noted. "Our students gain invaluable real-world exposure while simultaneously contributing to Skopje's growing reputation as a regional cultural hub."

Ramazanoğlu highlighted the unique benefits for both artists and guests. "We're redefining the hospitality experience by integrating art into our guests' stay," he explained. "This gallery allows us to support local talent while offering visitors something truly special—the chance to discover and acquire original artworks during their travels."

The inaugural exhibition under the Balkan Art Gallery banner is currently in development, with an official opening expected in the coming months. The partners envision rotating exhibitions quarterly, featuring a diverse range of artists and thematic presentations. This innovative partnership establishes a new model for academic-industry collaboration in North Macedonia's arts sector, creating valuable opportunities for emerging creatives while significantly enriching the country's cultural landscape.
