IBU Organizes Panel Discussion with Halkbank CEO Osman Arslan on the Future of Banking in Türkiye and the Balkans

International Balkan University (IBU) organized a thought-provoking panel discussion on the topic “Global Banking System and the Future of Banks in Türkiye and the Balkans.” The event, held at IBU's campus in Skopje, featured Mr. Osman Arslan, the CEO of Halkbank Türkiye, as the keynote speaker.

 

The panel brought together representatives from Turkish institutions and organizations in North Macedonia, IBU board members—including the President of the IBU Management Board, Mr. Recep Süleyman Özdil—and IBU Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Sunar, alongside academics, Halkbank representatives, students, and numerous guests. This diverse audience reflected the event's significance in bridging academic knowledge with real-world financial insights.

 

During his address, Mr. Arslan emphasized the importance of understanding global financial dynamics and shared his perspective on the evolution of the banking sector in Türkiye. He spoke about the resilience and growth of the Turkish banking system over the past decades, highlighting its adaptation to global financial changes and technological advancements.

 

Arslan stressed how crucial it is for the next generation to comprehend these shifts, as they will be the driving force behind future innovations and stability in banking. Expressing his commitment to engaging with young people, he remarked, "By sharing our experiences with the youth, we aim to inspire a new vision for the future." He also underscored the importance of financial literacy and education as key components for sustainable growth and development in emerging markets.

 

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Lütfi Sunar, the Rector of IBU, expressed his appreciation for Halkbank's contributions to the region's economy and highlighted its support for the university.

 

"Halkbank has played a crucial role in helping us establish a well-equipped university library, which our students actively benefit from," said Dr. Sunar, emphasizing the positive impact of corporate partnerships on educational development.

 

Also, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liza Alili Sulejmani, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at IBU, greeted the audience.

 

The panel concluded with a Q&A session, providing students and guests with the opportunity to engage directly with Mr. Arslan on matters of global finance and the future of banking in the region.
