Seminar on International Student Wellbeing Held During International Staff Week at IBU

As part of the 8th Erasmus+ International Staff Week, IBU hosted a seminar on the mental health and wellbeing of international students.

The session, titled “Adaptation and Mental Health of International Students,” was led by Dr. Katerina Petrusheva Mitevska, the Head of the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department at the International Balkan University. The speaker, Dr. Thseen Nazir from Ibn Haldun University, Türkiye, is an expert in Guidance and Psychological Counseling with a focus on mental health and wellbeing. He is also the author of a book that delves into the challenges faced by international students during the adaptation process.

The discussion focused on the emotional and social challenges that international students often face, offering strategies for better support and adaptation in a new academic and cultural environment.

Dr. Nazir generously donated a copy of his book to the IBU Halkbank Library.

To our students: while the academic journey can sometimes be as challenging as it is ultimately rewarding, it’s important to remember that you are not alone - help is available, and support networks can make a meaningful difference in your well-being.

IBU is committed to supporting you through the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) located on the -1 Floor of the Rectorate building. Remember, being able to ask for help is a sign of courage, and together, we are always better and stronger.
