Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Lütfi Sunar, visited the Rector of Anadolu University, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Adıgüzel, at his office in Eskişehir. During the visit, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, establishing a comprehensive framework for strengthening academic collaboration and fostering sustainable partnership between the universities.

 

The meeting was attended by Anadolu University Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Serpil Koçdar and Prof. Dr. Erkan Erdemir, as well as Secretary General Ecevit Öksüz. During the discussions, Rector Sunar emphasized Anadolu University’s strong vision for internationalization, its well-established educational standards, and the valuable opportunities offered through its Open Education System, particularly to students across the Balkan region. He highlighted IBU’s commitment to advancing meaningful and long-term cooperation. In response, Rector Adıgüzel expressed his satisfaction with the visit, noting the importance Anadolu University places on strengthening its international connections, especially within the Balkans, and reaffirming the institution’s dedication to further expanding academic ties.

 

The meeting also served as a platform to outline future-oriented and concrete initiatives between the two universities. Both sides underlined strong potential for cooperation in areas such as the development of joint academic programs, the sharing of research projects, expanding student and staff mobility, and mutually supporting scientific and academic events.

 

Following the discussions, Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Sunar and Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Adıgüzel signed the Memorandum of Cooperation, marking a significant step toward expanding institutional collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange. The memorandum includes cooperation in faculty and researcher exchange, student mobility programs, joint courses, and the organization of scientific activities and academic events.

 

In addition, both institutions plan to work together on joint research projects with a focus on securing international funding, including European Union programs. A key element of the cooperation will involve developing double-degree programs, which are expected to offer valuable opportunities for students while strengthening academic collaboration between the two universities. The memorandum also encompasses joint curriculum development, enhanced research methodologies, and the sharing of innovative academic practices.
