On 23 February 2026, we proudly took part in the official launch of the SustainEd University Coalition, a significant national alliance initiated by the United Nations in North Macedonia with the aim of institutionalizing and coordinating the role of higher education in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. By joining this coalition of eight universities, we reaffirmed our strong commitment to integrating sustainability into our teaching, research, and student initiatives, ensuring that academic knowledge and innovation actively contribute to the country’s sustainable development. This milestone marks an important step in strengthening collaboration across the higher education sector and positioning universities as key drivers of responsible and forward-looking transformation.

As a member of the Coalition alongside Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, “Goce Delcev” University – Stip, University St. Kliment Ohridski – Bitola, South East European University, Mother Theresa University, University American College Skopje, and the University of Tetovo, we stand united in our shared responsibility to embed sustainability principles across institutional strategies and academic practices. The launch event, hosted by the Faculty of Philosophy at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, provided an important platform for dialogue and coordination, emphasizing the collective role of universities in shaping innovative solutions that address social, environmental, and economic challenges at the national level.

International Balkan University was proudly represented at the event by our Vice-Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katerina Mitevska Petrusheva, whose presence underscored our institutional dedication to sustainable development and international cooperation. Through our active engagement in the SustainEd University Coalition, we further strengthen our vision of delivering quality education that is aligned with global priorities, fostering responsible leadership among our students, and contributing meaningfully to the sustainable future of North Macedonia. We remain committed to expanding our impact through collaborative initiatives that transform knowledge into action and advance the common good.
