Prof. Dr. Snezana Bilic, Vice-Rector of International Balkan University (IBU), participated in a significant event celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Representing Prof. Dr. Lutfi Sunar, Rector of IBU, Prof. Dr. Bilic attended the event that commemorated this milestone in the partnership.
The event included key addresses from prominent figures, including Mr. Philippe Leclerc, the UNHCR Regional Director for Europe, and Mr. Timcho Mucunski, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia.
As part of the event, a panel discussion titled “Three Decades of Resilience: UNHCR and Government’s Continuous Commitment to Refugees” was held, shedding light on the collaborative efforts between UNHCR and the Macedonian government. The panel featured insightful speeches by Mr. Fatmir Limani, Minister of Social Policy, Demographics, and Youth; Mr. Astrit Iseni, Deputy Minister of Interior of North Macedonia; and Mr. Gabriel Gualano De Godoy, UNHCR Representative in North Macedonia.
The event highlighted the enduring commitment to refugee protection and the achievements of the past three decades of cooperation between North Macedonia and UNHCR.
