About Faculty

In the first cycle of studies, the Faculty of Law has two accredited programs: Legal Studies (Bachelor of Law) and Political Sciences and International Relations (Bachelor of Political Sciences and International Relations) with 240 ECTS each. In the second cycle of studies, the Faculty of Law has six accredited programs: Administrative Law (Master in Administrative Law), International Law (Master in International Law), Criminal Law (Master in Criminal Law), Business Law (Master in Business Law), International Politics (Master in International Politics) and Balkan Studies (Master in Balkan Studies). Each program has 60 ECTS. Also, the Faculty of Law recently got accreditation of two PhD programs in International Law and Balkan Studies which will further enhance our students' knowledge in their chosen fields in the upcoming years. Each PhD program has 180 ECTS There is a variety of activities that are organized for the students under the curriculum of each department. Besides the theoretical knowledge provided to the students, the academic staff of the Faculty of Law contributes enormously to developing the necessary practical skills and knowledge through workshops, seminars, conferences, guest lecturing, etc. Many prominent academicians, legal experts, attorneys, notaries, and judges continuously conduct guest lectures and share their expertise with our students. The simulation of court trials and the simulation of a parliament is also an essential aspect of the practical lessons for our students. The establishment of the Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law adds additional value to the learning process. The students have the opportunity to use the model court room for analyzing cases and develop their legal skills and improve public speaking. The internship program of the Faculty of Law provides adequate training for the students that helps them further in fulfilling their goals of becoming attorneys at law, notary publics, public prosecutors, judges, enforcement agents, etc. In this regard, the Faculty of Law has signed many agreements for cooperation with different legal institutions where the students can apply their knowledge in practice. During the academic year, numerous field visits of state institutions are organized for the students at the Faculty of Law (Assembly, Government, Public Prosecutor, courts, and others). Also, our students can participate in exchange programs (Erasmus+, Mevlana, and other programs) that offer them direct experience of different cultural, social, and educational environments. Recently, the Faculty of Law has started to develop collaborative online international learning programs (COIL) that provide students with the opportunity to develop intercultural competency skills through a shared learning environment.

Dean's Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Law of International Balkan University! It's a unique and diverse community and I am pleased to introduce you to it. Our main goal Is to provide our students with high-quality, well-rounded, and modern legal education by designing innovative teaching methods, engaging students inside and outside the classroom, and providing individualized attention and feedback. The Faculty of Law has 2 accredited first-cycle study programs (Legal Studies and Political Sciences and International relations), 6 accredited second-cycle study programs (Administrative Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Business Law, International Politics and Balkan Studies) and 2 accredited third-cycle study programs (Balkan Studies and International Law). Each year, both the number and quality of students in our programs continue to grow, reflecting the increasing reputation and effectiveness of our educational offerings, as well as our commitment to attracting top-tier talent and fostering academic excellence. The Faculty of Law has a diverse community of academic staff that includes distinguished professors and assistants whose scientific research work has been published in prestigious academic journals around the world. The knowledge, professional experience, and critical thinking of our academic staff add even more value and meaning to the study and understanding of the law and political relations. The benefit of enrolling and studying at the Faculty of Law is that it’s the sole Faculty of Law in North Macedonia that provides full education in the English language. All the lectures and exams are conducted in English. Nowadays studying law in English has even greater value for students because of the demands of the international market and the development of international law. The students at our Faculty study law and political relations in a comparative manner which helps them to get familiar with different legal and political systems. The interactive approach by the academic staff and the innovative methods that are used in the case analysis during the classes make sure that the students learn about the connection between legal practice and the principles of justice and fairness. The leading principle of the legal profession is “in the service of others”, a principle that is also used at our Faculty of Law, that will prepare our students for a life of responsible legal practice, to be able to overcome all the professional obstacles they face at work, to be fair and just and to make the legal and political institutions stronger in the countries where they live and work.
