The Faculty of Art and Design at International Balkan University is a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation. Through a combination of theoretical learning and hands-on practice, students explore various artistic mediums, design principles, and innovative techniques. The Fashion Design program provides a comprehensive approach to fashion, covering everything from concept development to garment construction. Students gain hands-on experience in textile selection, pattern making, and fashion illustration, preparing them for careers in the fashion industry. The Graphic Design program focuses on visual communication, branding, and digital media. With an emphasis on typography, layout design, and user experience, students develop the creative and technical skills necessary to produce compelling designs for print and digital platforms. The Visual Arts program encourages artistic expression across multiple mediums, including painting, sculpture, and digital arts. Students engage in conceptual thinking and contemporary artistic practices, experimenting with different techniques to develop their unique artistic voice. The Interior and Furniture Design program blends creativity with functionality, teaching students to design aesthetic and practical spaces. The curriculum covers space planning, material selection, and furniture design, equipping students with the skills to create innovative and sustainable environments. At the graduate level, the Graphic Design (MA) program offers advanced studies in branding, visual identity, and digital design, while the Visual Arts (MA) program emphasizes contemporary art practices and critical analysis, fostering artistic innovation and research. With access to state-of-the-art facilities, expert faculty guidance, and opportunities for collaboration, students at the Faculty of Art and Design refine their skills and develop a strong artistic identity. Art & design are everywhere in our lives. Be it our home, be it the streets in our city, be it the business we work at—we all get in touch with the sense of art. Since very ancient times, art has played an important role in the expression of people’s cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles. Today, in the new era of the internet and multidimensional communication, art and design appear to be the answers to the very crucial question of life: who we are.
Led by the necessity to respond to this challenging thesis of today, we at IBU have designated responsive, comprehensive, and internationally-structured departments of graphic design and visual arts. This is the point where creative individuals with artistic skills meet, share their passion and talent, and ultimately get a reward for a successful career.
The department of graphic design includes courses that teach students specific skills, including typography, illustration, and packing, as well as the use of graphics design software for 3D design, web page design, and interactive multimedia design, through the combined use of colors, images, text, sound, paper, artwork, and motion.
Visual Arts is the department where students are taught the forms that create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking, and architecture. By creating visual images or crafts, students learn the best way to communicate their message to a target audience.
We at IBU are aware that it is talent that leads an individual to be a great graphic designer or visual artist. Yet, we are deeply convinced that a solid educational foundation is a necessary component to the success of that individual. This is the part where we ‘take the floor’ and devote ourselves to achieving this noble task of today.
