IBU Hosts Promotion of Landmark Book on North Macedonia’s Economic Transformation

The International Balkan University proudly hosted the promotion of “From Transition to Transformation: An Economic Analysis of North Macedonia (1991–2023)”, the first volume of the Balkan Political Economy Series, published by Balkan University Press. The event gathered distinguished academics, researchers, and guests from the field of economics and social sciences to engage in a meaningful discussion on the country’s economic journey from independence to the present day. The book represents a comprehensive analysis of three decades of economic reforms, policies, and structural transformation that have shaped North Macedonia’s path toward sustainable development and integration.

The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrijana Bojadzievska Danevska, with valuable contributions from Prof. Dr. Nikola Popovski, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikola Dacev, and Prof. Dr. Ana Kotevska. The panelists offered diverse perspectives on the economic, institutional, and policy dimensions of the country’s transition process, emphasizing the lessons learned from reform implementation and the ongoing challenges of achieving inclusive growth. The discussion encouraged critical reflection on the interrelation between economic transformation, governance, and the evolving role of regional cooperation in the Balkans.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Ahmet Lökçe, Editor of the Balkan Political Economy Series, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bojadzievska Danevska, Co-editor of the first volume, for their significant editorial contributions and dedication to advancing regional scholarship. The successful launch of this publication marks an important milestone for Balkan University Press and the International Balkan University’s ongoing commitment to fostering academic dialogue, promoting research excellence, and supporting intellectual collaboration across the region.
