The Department of Legal Studies is part of the Faculty of Law at the International Balkan University. Since ancient times, legal profession has been considered highly admirable, named as “the art of goodness and equity”. Study programs are conducted in a contemporary comparative manner, which enables students to get familiar with different legal systems and acquire core legal skills such as legal argumentation, rhetoric, logicand critical examination. The interactive approach and innovative teaching methods used in the analysis of the case law helps students learn about the connection between legal practice and the principles of justice and fairness. Legal Studies Department has established strong academic ties with some of the leading legal schools around the globe. One example of such cooperation is the joint course on Comparative Constitutional Law implemented in partnership with the Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ, US). Besides the theoretical knowledge provided to the students, the academic staff contributes enormously in developing the necessary practical skills and knowledge of the students through field visits of legal institutions, workshops, seminars, conferences, guest lecturing, etc. Many prominent academicians, legal experts, attorneys, notaries, and judges have conducted guest lectures, and this trend will continue even more in the future. Moot courts are also an essential aspect of the practical dimension of legal education offered to our students as an added value to the learning process.
