We successfully organized a thought-provoking discussion titled “Children in Conflict with the Law” under the leadership of our Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Ibish, bringing together distinguished legal professionals and members of our academic community. This significant program created an important platform to address the complex social and legal dimensions surrounding children who are drawn into criminal behavior. By fostering dialogue on this critical topic, we reinforced our commitment to academic excellence, social responsibility, and the advancement of legal awareness within both our institution and the wider community.
We were honored to host Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Ibish in person, while welcoming valuable contributions from the President of the Lawyers Association of Türkiye, Attorney Mehmet Melih Gülseren, and Board Member Attorney Mehmet Özcan, who joined the program online. The session was hosted by Ideal Law Club President Ali Fuat Taşdemir and Lawyers Association Board Member and Youth Commission Member Fatma Murat, whose engagement contributed to a dynamic and well-structured discussion. Throughout the program, participants explored the social factors that lead children toward crime, examined preventive legal mechanisms, and discussed comparative legal practices from different countries.
During the discussion, we emphasized the importance of addressing children in conflict with the law through a comprehensive approach that includes family, education, social environment, and institutional support systems. The need for preventive and protective legal policies to ensure successful reintegration into society was strongly highlighted, reflecting a balanced and forward-looking perspective on justice. By bringing together legal experts from different countries on a shared platform, we contributed to strengthening international awareness in the fields of children’s rights and criminal law. Through initiatives like this, we continue to promote critical thinking, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the development of socially responsible future legal professionals.
