About Department

The PhD in Economics program is designed to develop highly skilled researchers and scholars equipped to contribute original knowledge to the field of economics. Through rigorous training in economic theory, advanced quantitative methods, and empirical research, students gain the expertise necessary to analyze complex economic phenomena and address critical issues facing economies worldwide. The program emphasizes independent research, critical thinking, and scholarly communication, preparing graduates for academic careers, policy advisory roles, and leadership positions in international organizations, government institutions, and the private sector.

General Requirements
  • Have completed a second cycle of studies with a minimum of 300 ECTS credits accumulated
  • Have achieved a minimum GPA of 7.00 from their previous higher education (first and second cycle)
  • Completed prior higher education in the same or similar scientific field as the third cycle program
  • A scientific-preparatory program may be applied for candidates from different academic backgrounds
  • Excellent knowledge of English (min. level B1 according to the CEFR)
  • Submit two recommendation letters from qualified referees
  • Academic Research
  • Economic Consultancy in Public Sector
  • Consultancy with NGOS
