Brief Individual Counselling

Working individually with a skilled therapist in a therapeutic alliance offers numerous advantages. Sharing your challenges with an unbiased person can bring a sense of relief. Whether you're grappling with longstanding issues, facing fresh obstacles, or sensing an underlying unease, the support of a professional counselor can be invaluable.

The Brief Counseling Service is a complimentary and private resource accessible to all campus students. This process occurs in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. CAPS aims to assist students in examining their emotions, beliefs, and behaviors, recognizing areas in their lives that may benefit from change, gaining insights into themselves and others, establishing personal goals, and progressing towards the positive transformations they aspire to achieve.

It's important to note that consultations with the 'Brief Individual Counseling Service' do not constitute formal therapy sessions and are not considered mental health treatment. The aim of the brief counseling service is to evaluate your immediate needs and identify when in crises situations to direct you to psychological counseling services that operate independently of the university; to make suggestions regarding your problem, psychological and career workshops and seminars, students organizations (university clubs, peer mentoring) in IBU, referrals and so forth.

What you can anticipate during your counseling appointment: Before your appointment, you'll fill out a short questionnaire outlining the purpose of your visit on HELLOIBU. Before the visit, you will need to fill out the informed consent on HELLOIBU. Following that, you'll have a meeting with a therapist to into your concerns, share background information, and discuss your expectations from counseling. The session will last up to 20 minutes, concentrating on the current issues. Your counselor will offer immediate support based on your needs. The entire process, encompassing both the paperwork and the session, is expected to take approximately 30 minutes. After the counselling, you will fill out another form so that we can receive Feedback Form.

We extend an invitation to all IBU students to make use of the counseling.

The university does not have an agreement with the referred institutions and does not accept liability in possible cases.
